UPDATE: Determined Cause For U.S. Route 50 Fatal
WTAP News U.S. Route 50 near Coolville is open following a fatal semi-truck crash. Troopers say Philip Malott, 49, of Dayton, was killed in the crash.

Ohio State Highway Patrol, Athens Post, tell WTAP they believe the cause of the accident was Phillip Mallot driving off the side of the road.
Troopers say they suspect he fell asleep at the wheel.

Troopers say Philip R. Malott, 49, of Dayton, was killed in a one vehicle crash on US Route 50 in Athens County around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers say Malott was traveling eastbound on 50 when he drove off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail and a sign post.
Malott was not wearing a seatbelt.
They also confirm there were no hazardous chemicals or materials on the truck.
The eastbound lanes of 50 were closed for about 4 hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

U.S. Route 50 near Coolville is open following a fatal semi-truck crash.
The eastbound lanes were shut down early this morning after a semi-truck overturned killing the driver.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol must notify the driver's family before releasing his identity.
The accident is still under investigation.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say it happened by the intersection of Dixson Road.
Route 50 eastbound will likely remain shutdown for four hours.
