The hunt is on for this man.

Billy J. Claudill is wanted in connection to a bank robbery in Carroll, Ohio Wednesday.

Thought to be armed and dangerous he was seen near Ohio University's campus on Thursday sending police on a university wide search.

"I mean I walked outside and all I heard was sirens everywhere. So you know they were really looking," says Ohio University sophomore Hannah Mowry.

"We got so many texts and phone calls and emails. They did a really good job at letting us know what was happening," says Ohio University sophomore Susan Schierling.

Claudill was first spotted at the corner of Schafer and Union Streets. That prompted university officials to send out alerts to all students.

"Well they weren't very clear with what exactly was going on. Cause I thought someone was actually walking around and shooting people. I didn't think it was just a guy hiding out. They weren't very clear about that," says Ohio University junior James Roller.

After hours scouring the grounds police found no sign of Claudill. And while early reports may have been muddled most students didn't really react to the alarming news.

"I just figured I would stay inside. I didn't really have any fear of going out or anything," says Ohio University sophomore David Glassman.

According to the latest information from police Claudill has left the area.

Ohio University police say a fugitive, considered armed and dangerous, might be lurking around campus. They're asking students and residents to be cautious and report any suspicious activity.

The man is Billy J Claudill. He's wanted in connection to the Wednesday robbery of a People's Bank in Carroll, Ohio.

Police in Athens say Claudill was spotted near campus -- around Union and Schafer Streets.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

Claudill is 5'7", 195 pounds and has a shaved head.

Police have extra officers patrolling the campus. The university has alerted students, staff and faculty.
