Ohio University students were in Parkersburg this weekend giving a hand up to Habitat For Humanity.

Over 75 students from OU's Delta Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Omega worked to build Habitat For Humanity's 56th home.

Alpha Phi Omega is a service based fraternity with 400 members on Ohio University's campus.

Habitat For Humanity's volunteer coordinator, Gwen Miles, says she's thrilled to see young people giving their time to help out.

"It's so wonderful to have young people involved in any kind of service to our community. It's something that when I first came here I noticed that a lot of the older generations were the biggest contributors to any kind of service or volunteering," Miles says. "Many of our regular volunteers, who have literally built every Habitat house in Wood County, are in their 60's, 70's and 80's. So, to see the young people come out and participate gives all of us hope for the future."

Wood County Habitat For Humanity is always looking for volunteers. If you think you would like to donate your time to Habitat For Humanity you are encouraged to call (304) 422-7907.
