It's Not Just Santa Who's Flying
WTAP News While more people plan to drive than fly during the holidays, Christmas weekend travel is up at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport.

Tammy Larson and her husband regularly visit family in Washington County during the holidays.
This year, they decided to fly from their Wisconsin home, rather than drive directly to Ohio.
"This is the first time; we usually drive down there," says Larson, a Milwaukee resident. "We tried flying this time, just to make it a little easier. It's ten hours from Milwaukee to Newport, Ohio, and that's where we're heading."
And that seems to be a trend, in the year since flights from the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport have been available to Cleveland's Hopkins Airport. The number of arriving and departing passengers is in line with business during the Thanksgiving holiday.
"Any time you see kids in the airport, it's a busy time, and we're seeing a few going through now," says Terry Moore, Airport Manager. "It's kind of exciting for us to see people passing through.
That not only includes people like the Larsons, but college students visiting family and friends all over the country.
Larson and other fliers say they're surprised the airport they've passed through are not congested. Although the situation could change, it could be because of generally favorable weather in the East.
The name of the airline's carrier changed about a week ago. But that's about all that's changed. And as a matter of fact, it's unlikely people have even noticed any difference even by looking at the plane itself.
"The only real evidence we have here is a sticker on the side of the airplane," Moore says. "It doesn't change any of the business here, and it doesn't change delivery on the airplane."
The only change they might see in the future, would be a reflection of the recent merger of Continental with United Airlines.
