Students Get Their Day In Court
WTAP News Students went to court in Washington County Friday...and came out with a better understanding of how the system works.

It's not like it is on TV.
That's what area high school students found out when they went to court Friday.
They were the attorneys, the defendants, the witnesses and even the jury in a mock trial in Washington County Common Pleas Court.
One of the cases involved identity theft.
And for all the participants, it was a learning experience.
"It's kind of nerve-wracking, with all the judges there, and you're trying to remember everything you practiced," said Lauren Gray, who was a witness in one of the trials. "You don't know what questions they're going to ask on cross-examination. But I think I did pretty well."
As they do during real proceedings, Washington County judges Susan Boyer and Ed Lane presided over the student trials, aided by real-life assistant prosecutors.
