Chief Eric Taylor says the fire was small, but you wouldn't know that from all the smoke.
First responders made quick work of the fire, putting it out in minutes. Damages are estimated to cost around $500.
Chief Taylor says because this house is vacant there wasn't anything to fuel the fire. This is one of three homes in a row owned by Prime Investments of Parkersburg, all up for sale.
Utilities were off at the home and investigators say it wasn't accidental.
Chief Taylor says the fire appears to be incendiary in nature with no known motive.
Neighbors say they've noticed vagrants going in and out of the house recently.
The investigation is ongoing.
