Student Brings Gun To School
Red house, W.V. (AP) -- School officials in Putnam County say a young boy brought an unloaded, broken gun to school, but didn't intend to hurt anyone.

Red house, W.V. (AP) -- School officials in Putnam County say a young boy brought an unloaded, broken gun to school, but didn't intend to hurt anyone.
Putnam County Schools spokeswoman Karen Nowviskie says a teacher at confidence elementary school in Red House discovered the gun Tuesday morning when the boy opened his book bag.
Nowviskie says there were no bullets and no threat. She says this was simply a case of a very young child who made a very bad decision. She says he had brought the gun to school to show it off.
Nowviskie wouldn't release the boy's age or grade and declined to talk about what, if any, disciplinary measures were enacted.
Superintendent Chuck Hatfield says this was an isolated incident and emphasized that there was really no danger.
