West Jefferson, Ohio (AP) -- The National Weather Service says a strong storm system carrying a funnel cloud moved over central Ohio, and authorities are investigating reports that a tornado touched down west of Columbus.

Meteorologist John Franks says a tornado was reported about 1:20 p.m. Sunday near West Jefferson in Madison County, but he could not confirm one had touched down.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says it hasn't confirmed a touch down.

The State Highway Patrol says it has removed tree branches and shrubs that were blocking Interstate 70 near the Madison-Franklin County line.

The Weather Service says the storm moved Northwest into Delaware County, and a tornado warning was in effect through Sunday afternoon.
