Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- Low-income West Virginians can begin applying to receive state-issued clothing vouchers for their school-aged children.

The Department of Health and Human Resources says this year's vouchers will be worth $200 per eligible child.

To be eligible, a family of four can't make more than $1,767 a month, or about $21,000 a year.

The vouchers will become available in Mid-July and can be used to purchase clothing and piece goods.

The vouchers must be used by Oct. 31.

Applications will be mailed to families who received vouchers last year, or are currently receiving either Food Stamps or Medicaid.

Others may apply by contacting their local DHHR office, or by dialing 1-877-716-1212.

I feel the amount needs raised...I am a single mother with 2 children in school and make 2000 a month which barely takes care of my bills and gas in my vehicle to do my job........I deliver the Parkersburg News and Sentinel and it runs me about 200 a wk for gas and I only make 500...I think they need to take alot of other things into consideration when making out these monthly amounts.
