Columbus, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say more Ohio bank robbers are women, mirroring a national trend.

FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas says out of more than 260 bank holdups in the state last year, 18 were committed by women. He says that's up from just one or two in past years.

According to the FBI, women were behind 6.4 percent of bank robberies nationwide in 2007, compared to 5.4 percent in 2003.

Trombitas says about 60 percent of all Ohio bank bandits are arrested each year, though more than 70 percent of this year's cases involving women have led to arrests. He says it may be that those cases are more unusual and draw more attention and tips from the public.
