Cleveland (AP) -- Eighty-one people have become citizens in a Cleveland ceremony that was moved up two weeks so they could register to vote in time for the Nov. 4 Election.
Fifty-nine of the naturalized citizens who took the oath Friday in federal court immediately signed up to vote, beating the Monday deadline.
Bulgarian Immigrant Krasimir Georgiev filled out a voter registration card and says he'll vote in person on Nov. 4. He's undecided on the presidential race.
Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich asked the chief judge to move up the ceremony to accommodate several constituents who wanted to become citizens in time to vote.
