Columbus, Ohio (AP) -- Out-of-state students at Ohio colleges say they've registered to vote in Ohio because they think their votes will be more effective than in their home states.
No group tracks the number, but voting advocates say more students are choosing to vote in the swing state.
Miami University student Andrew Meissner from Scottsdale, Ariz., says he'll vote in ohio because his home state will surely favor Republican John McCain. Meissner wants to help the Arizona Senator win Ohio, too.
A Spokesman for Democrat Barack Obama says out-of-state students are a small group to target because they make up less than one-tenth of Phio Public University Students.
Some voting advocates say all students should vote where they go to school to have a stake in their campus communities.
