Lewis Center, Ohio (AP) -- Investigators are examining surveillance video from nearby businesses as they try to find the mother of a newborn left beside an Ohio road.
A woman who alerted authorities Tuesday afternoon said she noticed the naked infant in the grass while driving by a Meijer Discount Store near the Columbus suburb of Powell.
Delaware County Sheriff Walter Davis said the baby boy was left in a place where someone was likely to find him. The umbilical cord was still attached.
The newborn was listed in good condition Wednesday at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.
Officials are taking the occasion to issue reminders about Ohio's Safe Haven Law, allowing a parent to drop off a newborn at a hospital or with police without threat of prosecution.
