Berkeley Springs, W.Va. (AP) -- Parents in Morgan County who aren't sure if their children are using drugs or alcohol now have a free method to find out, thanks to the county sheriff's department.
Sheriff Vince Shambaugh is using forfeited money collected from Morgan County drug dealers to fund the drug test kits, which are available for pickup at his office.
The kits include a saliva test for alcohol and a urine test for marijuana, cocaine, opiates and other substances.
Shambaugh says the goal is to start a discussion between parents and children about the dangers of substance abuse.
He encourages parents to keep the results of the tests confidential, and to seek appropriate treatment if children test positive.
