Morgantown, W.Va. (AP) -- Allegheny Energy says it has completed installing pollution control equipment at its Fort Martin power plant in northern West Virginia.
Scrubbers installed at the plant near Morgantown will reduce sulfur dioxide emissions.
The Fort Martin project was part of a $1.3 billion program that also included installing scrubbers at Allegheny's Hatfield's ferry plant near Pittsburgh.
The Hatfield's ferry project was completed in October.
Greensburg, Pa.-based Allegheny said Thursday that the pollution control program will reduce its total sulfur dioxide emissions by more than two-thirds from 2005 levels.
Mercury emissions also will be reduced.
