According to the Ohio Environmental Council, an EPA study has revealed 70 different Ohio lakes and streams that have fish contaminated with mercury.
The findings were announced Wednesday at a meeting at Marietta College.
Jack Shaner, a member of the council, tells us mercury is a dangerous substance that can lead to development problems in children and in unborn children.
Members blame coal burning power plants for the mercury situation. They say the best way right now to reduce the amount of mercury is to bake the fish, not fry it and to cut off as much fat as possible.
