Flags to be Lowered Saturday to Honor SPC Marchand

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin has ordered all national and state flags displayed at state facilities lowered to half-staff Saturday, October 13th, to honor U.S. Army Specialist Jason Marchand of Doddridge County.

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin has ordered all national and state flags displayed at state facilities lowered to half-staff Saturday, October 13th, in commemoration of the distinguished life and service of United States Army Specialist Jason Nicholas Marchand.

SPC Marchand, 26, of Greenwood, died Friday, October 5th, from injuries suffered while on patrol in Baghdad, Iraq.

He was assigned to the Army’s 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Calvary Regiment, Vilseck, Germany, whose home base is Fort Lewis, Washington.

Visitation for SPC Marchand will be Friday, October 12th, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, October 13th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services for SPC Marchand begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Both visitations and the funeral will be held at Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front Street, West Union, West Virginia.
