Saturday was the first ever Family Fun Festival at the park.

The event, sponsored by the childcare and learning center "Your Children First,” is celebrating the national week of the young child.

The day included arts and crafts, clowns, face painting, balloon animals, games and much more.

"The first few years of children's lives are very important with the influence that adults and the community have on that, so we thought it would be important to put together an annual event for families and children to come out to," says Shannon Windland, the owner of Your Children First.

At the festival, parents had the chance to talk with representatives of the learning center and others about enhancing their child's education. This year's theme is “children's opportunities are our responsibility.”

The free event was held from 1 to 4, and was open for children 12 and under.

Officials hope to continue the Family Fun Festival next year.
