Over the weekend, WTAP picked up three first place wins during the West Virginia Associated Press Awards held this year in Canaan Valley.

We took home first place for best breaking news, which was comprised of our extensive coverage of the September floods that ravaged much of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

We also swept the competition with our award-winning web site. We are the only station in the state to have streaming video of our newscasts on wtap.com.

Abby Ham and Denise Alex won first place for best anchor team after they had only been anchoring together for a little more than a month in 2004.

WTAP also brought home many honorable mention awards including best news operation, Amber Davison for best reporter and Abby Ham and Shane King for best feature story.
