Whether you're getting ready to travel overseas or maybe across the border, you're probably looking into getting a passport if you don't already have one. Now there are more options and new prices.
The U.S. Postal Service started offering new fees for passport books and a new type of passport-the passport card-starting Feb. 1.
The passport card isn't available yet and according to the U.S. Postal Service, itwill be sometime this spring but you can still apply for it.
The card is only valid for travel by land or by sea between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. You have to purchase the passport book to travel in an airplane internationally.
However the passport card is cheaper and smaller in size.
Passport Card
For ages 16 and older $45
For age 15 and younger $35
*To have your photo taken at the U.S. Post Office the fee is an additional $15
