As many struggled, the Parkersburg Salvation Army provided relief for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Major Walter Strong, Donald Peck, and Jimmy Martin loaded a traveling canteen on Labor Day and headed down south to Sliddel, Louisiana. They've spent more than a month feeding hurricane victims. The three men have worked disasters before, but they say this hurricane was exhausting.
Major Walter Strong says, "Yeah there were times we you started to drag and you started to feel their pain, but it helped when you had somebody come up and say thank you, thanks for the meal."
Strong and his crew returned from Louisiana early Sunday morning, but they say there's still a lot of work left to be done along the coast.
The Parkersburg Salvation Army provided more than 17,000 meals while in Sliddel.
