It's the second time the Washington County and Marietta Convention and Visitor's Bureau held Rediscover Marietta Day. It's a day for residents and visitors to get out and see what Marietta has to offer, but to also spread the word.

"Our local residents and the people that work here are our best ambassadors. They're proud to live and work here, so we want them to know about the tourism aspect of their community, the history, so that they can relay that to their friends and family and visitors as well." says Kelly Blazosky, Executive Director of the Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

She's talking about residents like Teresa Grizer and Josh Cross, a mother and son who decided to take this local holiday and visit places they've never been, like The Castle.

"There's so many things in Marietta that people who live here and others don't realize about the city. The Castle is one of the many fine examples of what there actually is to do in Marietta and all the things there are to see," says Josh Cross, area resident.

Executive Director of The Castle, Lynne Shuman says there's a lot to see and so far it's been a jam-packed day.

"We've had 53 people through and it's only Noon, we know of 71 more that are coming in groups that have called ahead and we have no idea of those that will come on their own. So, it's going to be a big day for us," says Shuman.

A big day for residents and a big day for tourists.

It's all a part of a grander scheme to show off the history and appeal of the Mid Ohio Valley, to people near and far.
