One Washington County Career Center student won more than a pat on the back for his hard work, he got a car!

Ohio House of Representatives, Rep. Jennifer Garrison, drew Cory Hooper's name out of a container as the winner of the Toyota Camry that students renovated.

Teachers nominated him and other seniors each week of the second semester for a chance to win the car in this third annual "Car Give-Away."

"I was working back in the lab with my buddy, helping him take a test and the next thing I know my teacher Mr. Church came back and told me I won a car and I didn't believe him but I guess I did," said Hooper, a senior studying welding at Washington County Career Center.

Hooper also thanked students from the Auto mechanics and Auto Collision program. They put over 700 hours into renovating the donated car.
