Another local law enforcement agency is trying to save some bucks too, but not because of gas prices.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is consolidating dispatchers across the state into 1 or 2 centralized dispatch centers within each of the states 10 districts.

The five dispatchers working at the Marietta Post will be moving to those centers.

"Right now, if a critical incident happens, I have one individual handling telephones, people walking on post and that critical incident. With a dispatch facility, you have more individuals there that can help with that," says Lieutenant Mary Pfeifer, Marietta Post Commander.

Starting August 17th, when you call the Marietta Post, your call will most likely be sent to a dispatcher in St. Clairesville, Ohio.

Lieutenane Pfeifer says the Marietta Post will not be cutting back on patrols or the service they provide.
