The Eighth Commandment says "Thou shalt not steal," but what was stolen from the front lawn of the Parkersburg Reality office is the most sacred symbol in all of Christianity.
Baby Jesus was stolen from this traditional manger scene.
Parkersburg Reality President Ted Gaston says he was saddened by the discovery.
Not only was Baby Jesus taken, but also Joseph and one of the wisemen was knocked over.
The entire set was almost $300, however, Gaston says it's not about cost, but rather principle.
"We're firm believers here that Christmas is about a certain thing, and that's the birth of Jesus Christ. When we celebrate Christmas, that's what we have to celebrate, and that's what we were trying to portray out there is that this is the reason for the season," Gaston says.
Gaston adds he only hopes those who stole the figurines took them to bring something into their lives as opposed to reflecting something that's missing in their lives.
Parkersburg Police were notified. However, they say there is little they can do except keep their eyes open for similar incidents.
Lt. John Young says they have no suspects at this time.
