A Marietta couple is behind bars Tuesday night for drug trafficking, but police say their criminal connection doesn't stop there.
Richard and Amy Thompson were allegedly selling drugs in exchange for property that had been stolen during house burglaries and from local area merchants.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says an informant recently bought Oxycontin and Klonopin, a panic-disorder medicine, from the Thompsons.
That buy led them to the couple’s home.
Last week law enforcement agencies from throughout Washington County and Morgan County raided the Colonial Terrace Apartments where they confiscated drugs and stolen goods.
Because Colonial Terrace Apartments are within 1,000 feet of a school, the severity of the offense escalates to a first degree felony.
Forty-two-year-old Richard and 36-year-old Amy Thompson each face three to ten years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
The Thompsons are being held in the Washington County Jail without bond until their appearance in Marietta Municipal Court on Wednesday morning.
