It's Severe Weather Awareness Week in Ohio, and Wednesday, the Buckeye State held a state-wide tornado drill.
It's something school systems around the state take very seriously. At Stone Elementary School in Belpre alarms sounded, and children took cover.
Principal Tom Binegar says having drills like this one is extremely important for the safety of his students.
"Worldwide we see all different kinds of situations and so we want to be as prepared as we can be for various types of disasters," says Stone Elementary Principal Tom Binegar. "So we do all kinds of drills, lock-down drills, fire drills and tornado drills."
Principal binegar says there will be at least three tornado drills done at Stone Elementary this year, and he says was very pleased with how the youngsters handled themselves Wednesday morning.
In Ohio, peak tornado season is April through July.
