When a patient comes to the hospital and needs emergency heart care national guidelines recommend performing the necessary procedure in less than 90 minutes. One local hospital is consistently doing just that!
Monday, officials at St. Joseph's hospital announced that 100% of the patients needing emergency cardiac care recieved it at St. Joseph's within the 90 minute standard, which is according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Joint Commission.
Officials say St. Joseph's Hospital has the capability to provide angioplasty in emergency situations as well as provide on-site open heart surgery services for those patients in need. That saves the patient from being transferred to another hospital which could save critical minutes.
