An osteoporosis drug could be next in line to fight breast cancer.

20,000 woman across the country recently participated in a Star clinical trial, including some from the Mid Ohio Valley.

Camden Clark's Community Comprehensive Cancer Center took part in the study. It compared the drugs Raloxifene and Tamoxifen.

Dr. Nik Shah was one of the doctors who participated in the study.

He says, "The study showed that this drug Raloxifene, which is a drug used to prevent osteoporosis, can reduce the risk of breast cancer equal as Tamixifen in post-menopausal women who are at high risk for breast cancer."
