Eramet Marietta has released more details on it's over $150 million plan to drastically reduce manganese emissions and odors.

This weekend Eramet stated it's new vision to install manganese alloy furnace production facilities. This is in addition to further develop refining technology and possibly restructure the overall layout of the plant.

The plan is to improve the company's environmental and operational performance.

Joy Frank-Collins, Public Relations and Communications representative of Eramet Marietta said it will be a series of projects.

One project began back in March with revamping furnace one.

"That project alone when coupled with the bag house project that will be completed in 2009will cut down the plant emissions of manganese from that furnace alone by 54 % and 20% plant wide.
Our goal is to continue meeting with concerned neighbors related to our facility," said Frank-Collins.

She said the plan's contingent upon continued market support, financial performance, regulatory approvals, state incentives, and energy prices.

Since the announcement came Saturday, members of Neighbors for Clean Air and Ohio Citizen Action said they have suspended their campaign but both groups say they plan to continue to meet regularly.
