A national organization designed to help keep seniors fit is kicking off in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The Marietta Family YMCA is starting a "Silver Sneakers" fitness program. The program will allow some area seniors to take advantage of free membership and special classes.

Some insurance companies are offering the incentive because physical activity can play an important part in maintaining the health of older people.

It's also a good way to have fun and make new friends.

For more information, you can call the Marietta YMCA at (740) 373-2250 or visit theYMCA at 300 North Seventh Street in Marietta.

You can also get more information on the Silver Sneakers program by going to www.silversneakers.com.
