Charges against a Marietta businessman have been dropped...but new charges could be filed later.

Bill Thayer was charged last month with false pretense with intent to fraud.

Wood County Prosecutor Ginny Conley says those charges were dropped Tuesday in Magistrate Court...but that Thayer continues to be investigated for possible future prosecution on state and federal charges.

Conley adds Thayer remains in custody...on a fugitive warrant out of New Jersey.
