New warnings are out for Mid-Ohio Valley residents living near DuPont's Washington Works Plant.

Federal health officials are now warning some of those residents to avoid drinking C-8 contaminated water.

The U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry is asking parents not to use C-8 contaminated water to mix baby formula.

Health officials are also urging pregnant women, women of childbearing age, children and the elderly to reduce the amount of the water they consume.

A DuPont spokesperson says Parkersburg city water has minute trace quantities of PFOA, but they are below current EPA guidelines of drinking water quality.

Dupont says:
"Based on health and toxicological studeies, DuPont believes the weight of evidence indicates that PFOA exposure does not pose a health risk to the general public. To date, there are not human helath effects known to be caused by PFOA, although study of the chemical continues."

The Lubeck Public Service District has released the following response:

"Lubeck Public Service District has received several telephone calls form its customers regarding a report form the Associated Press that federal health officials have issued certain advisories regarding consumption of water containing ammonium perflurooctanoatc ("C-8").

All water delivered by Lubeck Public Service District for human consumption has been treated with granulated activated charcoal treatment process owned and operated by DuPont. The latest testing information supplied to the District by DuPont indicates that all of the treated water is either free of C-8 or has a level of C-8 that is too low to quantify. Testing of the filtered water is done by DuPont at least as often as quarterly. The levels of C-8 may, of course, change from test to test.

Any further inquiries should be made to DuPont."
