Ten full-time employees at the Hino Motors facility in Williamstown are now out of work.
The layoffs happened Friday at the commercial truck manufacturing plant that employs about 100 people.
Hino officials say the struggling transportation sector led to the cutbacks.
“Obviously, this is a terribly challenging time for the commercial and passenger vehicle industries, OEMs and suppliers alike,” said Sandy Ring, Hino’s General Manager of External and Legal Affairs. “We have done everything possible to avoid layoffs, but our current staffing and capacity exceed market demand.”
Hino is offering severance packages to all employees.
They are also working with Governor Manchin's Workforce West Virginia Rapid Response Team to help employees with unemployment compensation and worker training.
