Dozens of people came out to help the community Saturday in projects organized by two area Boy Scouts who are working to earn their Eagle Scout rank.
Williamstown High School sophomore Daniel Willis organized donations and his family, friends, and church members to help build nine picnic tables for Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Boaz.
Daniel Willis, who is a member of troop 20 said "Well Eagle Scout is a great honor. Only about one in 100 scouts ever reach this rank and just help the church."
Brandon Pethtel, who is in the eighth grade at Jackson Middle School and a member of troop 12 who is also working for his Eagle Scout rank said "We're just painting and revising Spencer Park cause it has been rusty for so many years."
Pethtel organized donations from several businesses as well as many volunteers to paint, provide new trash cans, and replace the tops of the picnic tables at Spencer Park in Vienna.
Both students will write up reports on their projects in order to be considered to receive the Eagle Scout rank.
