Officials report that two young children from Athens County were taken by helicopter to Children's Hospital in Columbus after a horse fell on them.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says Julie Gilbert of Athens County called the office close to 4:30 p.m. Sunday requesting assistance because a horse had fallen on her two children who are five and seven years old.

The Little Hocking Squad responded to another person injured at the scene who Sheriff Mincks says was treated and released.

No information was available on the extent of their injuries.
