Next weekend if you want to celebrate Independence Day with a bang, professionals will be setting off fireworks in Parkersburg, Marietta, and Newport.
Weather permitting the fireworks displays will go off from the Washington County Fairgrounds, City Park, and near the Ohio River behind the Newport V.F.D. station next Saturday. All of the shows are set to begin at 10 p.m.
Friday in Marietta the 15th Annual Red, White and Blues Fest will kickoff followed by the CVB's Marietta Wing Thing Saturday. The city's parade starts Saturday at 10 a.m. at Marietta College and end at the Armory.
In Williamstown the Lions Club Annual Pancake Breakfast will go from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. Saturday at Tomlinson Park.
The American Legion's carnival will continue at City Park next weekend.
Also before the fireworks in Marietta, there will be a demolition derby at the fairgrounds from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Admission at the gate is $5 and $20 for a pit pass.
In Newport according to the V.F.D. a parade will begin at Newport Elementary School at 11 a.m. and a festival will be going on most of the day at the fire station and community building.
