Thanks to several last minute donors the Marietta fireworks went off Saturday night but their future depends on money raised each year by the Washington County Fair Board.

Fair board president Steve Tornes said the fireworks and demolition derby were a success last night but they don't know how much money was raised.

They are trying to organize some different fundraisers to help pay for the fireworks next year and he said one thing they don't want to do is raise entrance fees. Tornes said the board has not raised them in years.

"It's hard and that's where we asked for some community support to help do these type of events and like I said the community come through and I thank them very much for that," said Tornes.

Tornes said the board is still in the planning stages to see what they can do to come up with another way to fund the fireworks display.
