A Parkersburg man is behind bars, after deputies claim he tried to fake a prescription.

Eric Garganus was arrested Friday at the Marietta K-Mart.

A pharmacist at the store suspected Mr. Garganus had a prescription for the drug Lortab that wasn't legitimate.

When confronted, deputies say Garganus admitted taking a blank prescription sheet from his doctor's office.

It's a problem that happens more often than you think.

Sgt. John Underwood with the Washington County Sheriff's Department says, "We are seeing an increasing number of incidents involving individuals that are abusing prescription drugs. As a result of that we see a lot more property crimes, more breaking and enterings, burglaries, and vehicle thefts."

Garganus is charged with using deception to obtain a dangerous drug.

He remains at the Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.

His arraignment is set for Tuesday.
