Over 600 marijuana plants are off the market in Athens County.

The Athens County Sheriff's Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol seized hundreds of plants worth nearly $750,000.

Sheriff Patrick Kelly said a patrol helicopter pilot spotted about 20 plants on Roundhouse Road in New Marshfield Thursday.

Friday when Athens County officers went to find the plants they found hundreds more in a cornfield on County Road 19, a field near the Athens and Vinton County line, and a field in a Valley off Vore Ridge Road.

Sheriff Kelly said many of the buds of the plants were two feet long. According to the sheriff no one is facing charges.
