After last year's lengthy presidential campaign, West Virginia is mostly getting a break from elections and campaigning this year.

But that isn't the case in Ohio or Washington County.

City councils and school boards are electing members...and there are school levy and bond issues on the ballot in Marietta and Belpre, as well as local option issues in several communities, including Belpre.

Still...so-called "off-year" elections tend not to attract as many voters as the national races.

"It's overshadowed from last year," says voter Debbie Stodberg. "But I think the same amount will vote who have been voting."

"I wouldn't think (they would forget to vote) in Marietta with the school bond issue coming up," says Jim Wark of Devola. "I hope they remember."

A number of issues, including the much-publicized casino gambling issue, are on the statewide ballot in Ohio.

Early voting in Washington County for the November election begins Tuesday.

Early voting will take place at the board of elections in the Washington County Courthouse, during its regular hours...except for Saturday, October 31st, when it will be open until noon.

If you're not registered to vote, the last day to do that is October 5th.
