Simonton Windows in Ellenboro brought back more than 200 employees that were laid off earlier this year.

Governor Joe Manchin, Senator Jay Rockefeller and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke were all in Ritchie County Friday to celebrate with the workers that got their jobs back.

The re-hired workers were laid off back in late 2008 and early 2009.

Over the past few months production has increased with the help of market share gains, seasonal demand, the energy tax credit and stimulus package.

Manchin, Rockefeller, and Locke toured the facility and talked with Simonton employees.

Manchin spoke first thanking the hard working employees and mentioned other increases in area businesses like Hino Motors in Williamstown.

Senator Rockeffeller said the Recovery Act and the energy tax credit contributed to the increase of jobs at Simonton Windows.

"When we did the original Recovery Act bill we boosted the credit from 10 percent to 30 percent, and that's a big deal when I look around I can see some of the results of that, "said Rockefeller.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, agreed with Manchin and Rockefeller, "This really shows that the Recovery Act is working, but a long ways to go still too many unemployed people not just here in West Virginia, but all across America."

Commerce Secretary Locke said that he is pushing for a 2 year half of a million dollar grant through the commerce department for high speed Internet throughout the entire state of West Virginia to help rural areas.

Simonton managers also said that they are looking to increase their hire of seasonal help up to twenty five people.
