I guess im more educated now, i know its out of city limits is why i assumed sheriffs dep was there and not local P.D, so there wasnt anything said about a space heater that started it? Thx for info Rob.

Bob.. no the Sheriffs dept doesnt show up on all fires unless they are called iam on a fire dept here in Parkersburg, OIC called for a deputy to responed then when the deputy left he told central he was enroute to station to secure Evidence. And i didnt say Dave set the fire or his roommate, and just because your are related to Dave doesnt mean you know everything that whent on there, unless you was there with the rest of us...

The Wood County Fire Investigation Team (F.I.T.) is a pool of Investigators from local Fire Departments and Law Enforcement. The FIT Team investigates fires in Wood County outside the city limits of Parkersburg and Vienna. The Deputy on scene at the fire is a member of the team. It is standard practice to investigate structure fires, and DOES NOT mean that it is a suspicious fire.

Bob...I don't think anyone was accusing the homeowner of setting the fire...its even stated that he was at work. In PA, it is SOP to investigate the cause of all fires...but it is usually done by the local FD unless there is a loss of life or signs of arson...then its a joint effort between the FD & a state fire marshall. Investigation is needed to find the cause of the fire...whether its accidental or arson. I was in a fire dept for many years...my official capacity was safety officer & photographer, my ex-husband was the chief, and I assisted in many investigations. Most cases of arson is not done by the homeowner...it is usually an act of burglary, vandlelism or revenge. I'm sorry Dave & his roommate lost everything. Good luck to both of them!!!

I can say for certain that there was no intention of a fire being set, i am related to Dave and there was another guy living there also, they lost everything and for FF, the sheriff's department shows up at all fires and other till its proven that it wasnt set so keep ur dumb accusations to yourself please, last name is not statts btw but i dont think everyone needs to know either, he is a private person

Thanks to all the readers on this site for the updates & location of the fire. Parkersburg residents still rock!!!...more than I can say about WTAP right now! I'm very disappointed in their online coverage of this fire. I am glad no one was hurt, and my prayers go out to the man who lost his home.

There is a video from the morning news. I saw a sign regarding a dog, was the dog hurt?

11 hours later and no update on the fire...come on WTAP...with a reporter supposedly on the scene surely you received updates by now. Did everyone go home last night with the swine flu so no one was available to write updates for the news? How about a complete story and pictures?
Posted by: Paul Location: Belpre on Nov 5, 2009 at 08:33 AM

Must be a really bad fire..."We have a reporter on the scene, and will update you as soon as more information becomes available." Hope the reporter is ok also... This story makes the news last night at 11 and still no updates?
