Parkersburg City Park is all ready for the launch of its annual holiday lights display. Leaves continue to fall to the ground. Winged creatures appear to be flying to warmer climes...or not.
Such is the paradox of a sunny, warm Saturday in the middle of November.
"I feel I should have my golf clubs out...be out on the course somewhere," says Doug Oakes, who is from Perry County, Ohio. "That's a close second to being with my granddaughter."
"It's really nice, it feels like fall, not winter," says Minam Choe, whose father is visiting from Minnesota. "It doesn't feel like winter at all."
But we are, after all, on the verge of the holiday season...and winter often arrives earlier than its scheduled December 21st date. So forgive some of these folks if they're wondering what holiday they should prepare for.
"I started Christmas shopping last week," says Ann Tucker. "I'm looking forward to it, but we have to get Thanksgiving out of the way first."
"Don't rush it, Oakes opines. "(There's) plenty of time to anticipate."
But on a Saturday, people probably just were wistfully taking advantage of this spectacular day...knowing days like this, no doubt, are numbered.
