Dave Dravecky saw his 1980's pitching career halted when he was diagnosed with cancer in his pitching arm...and end completely when, after a brief comeback, his arm was amputated.
He spoke to the Wood County Christian School's "Share the Vision" banquet about how he's dealt with the past, while providing optimism for others.
"To help them understand that it's not what they do when the leave here, that is going to define who they are," says the one-time San Francisco Giants pitcher. "It's really about who they are first which will define what they do and how they do it. That's the challenge in life."
Dravecky is the author of several books, including the best-seller, "Comeback", in which he recalled his return to baseball after his initial surgery.
