A Hunting We Will Go

Good weather...or at least better weather than day one of last year...helped hunters bring something home on the first day Monday of the hunting season in West Virginia.

Many of them checked their deer in at Pifer's BP in Mineral Wells checking station.

And one hunter we spoke to says his catch Monday followed a buck he killed bow hunting earlier this year.

"I saw two smaller bucks, and two does came in," said hunter Gary Edwards, "and this one was following the does, and I was lucky enough to get a shot at him."

Others we interviewed said the deer population seems to be down this year...but the checker said he had been busy almost since early morning.

The Division of Natural Resources expects 280,000 licensed hunters will hit the woods this season, helping to fuel an annual economic boost of about $233 million.
