A Jackson county teenager is dead after a family's minivan crashes into a power pole.

Officials with the Jackson county sheriff's department say the accident happened just after 4 pm Tuesday on Route 21 between Kenna and Fairplain.

Deputies say a mother and her two children were traveling on Route 21, when the mother says she believes she may have fallen asleep.

Their mini-van left the roadway and struck a power pole.

15-year-old Megan Blaisdell was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 13-year-old brother and the mother driving suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Jackson county sheriff's officials say the accident remains under investigation.
