Slippery road conditions caused quite a few accidents Monday night and while authorities say most of them are minor, some injuries have been reported.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers say 27-year-old Nicole January lost control and slid into the Ohio River along Route 7 in Washington County.

It happened around five o'clock Monday evening near mile post 37 in Newport.

January was able to escape the car and swim to shore before the car submerged.

January was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital.

The car remains in the river at this time and is expected to be retrieved Tuesday morning.
