A four county police chase ended on West Virginia Route 47 Saturday night and landed a Gilmer County man in jail.

Deputies said it started around 11 p.m. Saturday when police stopped Waitman Lee Frederick in Glenville after reports he was possibly drunk.

Authorities said Frederick got out of his car and then hopped back in and took off.

An hour later officers put spikes on the road that deflated Frederick's tires on West Virginia Route 47 close to River Road.

Authorities said Frederick kept driving but when a deputy drove in front of him Frederick ran into the deputy's vehicle pushing them into into a guardrail.

A police cruiser subsequently rear-ended the truck Frederick was driving.

Frederick was arrested for fleeing while driving under the influence, wreckless driving, and obstructing.

The North Central Regional Jail reports his bond is set at $10,000 in Wood County and $12,000 in Gilmer County.

According to Gilmer County deputies, Frederick used to be the administrator of the West Virginia Central Regional Jail.
