Update 1/19/2010 @ 8:48 p.m.

Investigators are still working to find out why a US Airways pilot aborted take off in Charleston Tuesday night, but luckily, all 34 lives on board are safe.

A U.S. Airways flight aborted a take-off and stopped about 125 feet from the edge of the mountain at Yeager Airport in Charleston around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

There were 30 passengers, one infant and 3 crew members on board.

Yeager airport officials said the Engineered Materials Arresting System did its job and saved all 34 lives.

The EMAS consists of layers of foam that are anywhere from six to 20 inches deep covered by a thin layer of concrete.

Yeager Airport will re-open once the plane is removed from the runway, that is expected to happen before midnight.

Yeager Airport's Twitter page (@YeagerAirport) stated as of about 8:00 p.m., crews were in the process of removing the plane from the runway.

Officials say all outbound flights have been cancelled.

Everything is expected to be back to normal by Wednesday morning.

A spokesman at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport confirm there's been an "incident" at Yeager Airport in Charleston.

WTAP has learned that a USAirways plane became stuck in the so-called "Engineered Materials Arresting System" at Yeager Airport after aborting take off Tuesday afternoon at about 4:30 pm.

The "EMAS" is a device located at the end of the runway that's designed to stop an airplane in case it overshoots the runway.

All passengers safely exited the plane. There are no reports of injuries. There's no word on what caused the flight to abort its take off.

WTAP will have more information here and on WTAP News at Six as we receive it.
